Description

After month of rain we had the first clear night. By chance I read in the Nasa publications that a Nova appeared in M101. The nights in central europa are short, so I tried to get a proper picture.
I had to delete several pictures due to high Cirrus which passed and as well due to plenty of satellites. In one picture I had 4 trails and in the wider view with the Astrograph even 6!
The supernova was discovered from a japanese astronomer on may 20th. M101 is only 21 Mo Lj. distant, therefore this nova is the nearest in the past five years. Its as well the 2nd supernova found in M101 in the past 15 years. According NASA it should be a type II. The nova should likely brighten and remain visible for months.
The Nova is the bright star on the left arm a bit under the middle of the galaxy
